Pre-World War 2 America Menu
Chapter 1 of 2014 Revised TR/AP (2010 TR/AP chapter 3) contains
clear evidence that GIs created Tokyo Rose almost entirely out of
their imaginations. To understand that process, the chapter provides
various exhibits from American popular culture in 1940-41. From
elements of this culture and other sources, GIs subconsciouly
created the legend.
The exhibits of Chapter 1 represent the most important keys to U.S.
pre-war culture. This section of the website provides additional
exhibits that could not be included in the book. Website visitors
should regard it as a supplement, not a replacement, for Chapter 1.
