Documents pertaining to decision not to prosecute Wallace Ince
Two post-trial documents address the Department of Justice decision not to
prosecute. They appear to me to show that DoJ, despite its assurances otherwise,
never seriously investigated Ince and hoped his "case" would simply fade away. It did.
Citizens never really cared about him. They wanted to punish Tokyo Rose.
1) Office Memo, February 13, 1951: The Department of Justice informed the FBI that it had not decided whether to present the Ince case to a grand jury but that no further investigation by the FBI would be necessary;
2) Letter, July 13, 1954: DoJ responds to a request from an unknown party affiliated with an unknown "agency" that Ince cannot be prosecuted for lack of witnesses and evidence.
