On May 25, 1948 Thomas DeWolfe, the Justice Department's expert on treason prosecutions delivered to DoJ his assessment of whether the prosecution should move forward. As I put it in the 2014 revised edition of TR/AP (p. 301), DeWolfe's Statement of the Case "marked the final chapter in the U.S. government's quest for the truth."
